Vietnam's Roads Severely Damaged as Typhoon Bualoi Unleashes Flooding
(MENAFN) The destruction of road infrastructure from Typhoon Bualoi and subsequent flooding in Vietnam has been estimated at approximately 982.83 billion Vietnamese dong, or around 37.2 million U.S. dollars, according to a report published Tuesday by local media.
The majority of the damage is concentrated on roads managed by local authorities, as reported by the Department for Roads of Vietnam.
Meanwhile, another local media outlet revealed that over 370 locations on the national road network were impacted by disruptions, resulting from flooding, landslides, and damage to roadbeds or slopes.
The most severe infrastructure damage was recorded in central and northern provinces. The losses in Thanh Hoa province alone were estimated at about 600 billion Vietnamese dong (roughly 22.7 million dollars), while Nghe An and Cao Bang provinces saw damages of 132.6 billion dong (approximately 5 million dollars) and 130 billion dong (around 4.9 million dollars), respectively.
Many roads in these affected regions remain obstructed due to ongoing landslides and localized flooding, the report added.
